What To Do

Bartram's Garden
Bartram’s Garden is the oldest surviving botanic garden in North America. It’s in the city, free, and easy to visit. It is also where we got engaged!

Historic Philadelphia

Old City, with the Independence National Historic Site surrounded by small cobblestone streets with historic homes, is well worth an afternoon ramble. There can be a long line to see the Liberty Bell, so try just peeking at it through the glass if you don’t want to wait. Free tickets to visit Independence Hall, which we highly recommend, can be reserved online in advance, or are available on the same day you visit.

The new Museum of the American Revolution is getting good reviews, let us know what you think.

Longwood Gardens

One of Liz’s favorite places is Longwood Gardens, which is a former DuPont estate. The incredible grounds include formal gardens with dramatic fountains, an arboretum, and a huge conservatory with an astonishing orchid collection. It’s about 45 minutes outside the city, but absolutely worth it if you have an extra day. Stay for an evening fountain show if you can.

Benjamin Franklin Parkway

The parkway runs from our incredible City Hall (topped by a statue of William Penn himself), to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Enjoy the collection and a run up the Rocky steps. The Barnes Foundation is even better!
Getting Around
Parking will be available at the wedding. However, parking at the hotels in the city is expensive and inconvenient. If you are coming in from out of town, we recommend relying on taxis, Lyft and SEPTA.
Where to Eat
Philadelphia has too many incredible eating opportunities to do them all justice. Below are just a few of our favorites.

Dizengoff - This place will change how you think about hummus forever. Very close to Sofitel.

Nomad Pizza - The one at 7th and South is our go-to.

Tria - Great small plates. The one in Washington Square West was an early date spot for us.

Local 44 - Great beer bar and Dan's neighborhood hangout for years. Check out the Bottle Shop next door!
